From the Store Administration page, scroll down to Coupons and click the Add button in the Coupons section to create a new coupon code.

First give your coupon a name by typing it in the Name field. Next you have the option of creating the actual code that the customer will enter during checkout, but it is not required. A coupon code will be generated if the field is left blank. (required fields are displayed in bold). You will also want to give a general description to this coupon by entering it in the Description field.

The next step is to enter a number in the Discount field. Enter just the number, no percentage or dollar signs. You'll be able to specify the Discount type by clicking the drop down menu and making your selection of percentage or absolute. Absolute being a dollar amount off the total purchase. You have the option to enter a minimum amount that has to be spent before the customer is eligible to use the coupon, max uses of the coupon and max uses per card, but are not required to do so.

You must choose an Active date for your coupon by entering a date and time. You can make the coupon active right away by clicking Today and Now or can schedule a date and time in advance by typing the date and time as displayed below, or choosing a date and time by clicking the calendar icon and clock icon respectively. An expiration date is not required but is available if you wish to have a stopping date and time for your coupon.

Lastly, you will need to select the products that are eligible for use of this coupon. you have the option of selecting certain products, or if you wish you can choose all products by clicking the choose all button under the available products box. If you are selecting random products, select the product in the available products box then hit the right arrow in between the two boxes which will move the selected product(s) to the chosen products box. If you want to add more than on selection at a time hold down the shift key and select multiple products. Don't worry, if you add a product you didn't want, you can select it and hit the left arrow removing it from the box. When you are finished hit the Save button at the bottom, and you're done! You can always go back and edit your coupon from the Store Administration page if needed.
